Pouring SALVES or LUSCIOUS CREAMS, going the extra mile to source Organic Botanicals and Healing Adjuncts for our community, or being involved on the phone with a local client , or one from Wichita, KS, in choosing the appropriate plant for their remedy, I feel very fortunate having the precious and intimate connection with every one who seeks our company and services.
It is truly a privilege to work with each one of you , year after year, addressing core issues that affect our families and the very fabric of our lives: over and over I'm deeply touched by the sincerity and beauty that are present in our exchanges and constantly learn from the deep wisdom you all carry and so willingly share.

Over the past 12 years at the store, I have learned that there are many layers involved and "innertwined" in running a successful HERBAL HEALING enterprise: each one of those is directly linked with acting consistently from a solid core of Gratitude, Respect, Care and Equanimity for and toward all of Creation, with no exeption.
Beside aspects mentioned elsewhere, that "core sourcing" comes into action (-interaction-) in something as seemingly trivial as being polite with the 7th telemarketer of the day who would like to sell us some service or another, although our phone mumber is registered with the "no call" list... ad infinitum, ad nauseatum.
However distracting and pointless the call may be, the act of "remembering" that the actual person on the line with me is, yet, another beautiful and beloved creation of The Divine, along with the rest of Humanity, softens my heart . My job IS so wonderful ,I can spare some of my happiness at being alive with her/him and thank God for another opportunity to share glad tidings!.
And what goes around, comes around, undeniably! The "core" of which I speak is related to the French word "cœur" which means "heart". That heart/core is the "rudder" or the intention that keeps our ship floating safely, or so it seems, no matter what the seas may present.
Garden of Eden was born out of my passionate appreciation for the plant world and its Creator/Creatrix as I had grown to know and rely upon it to heal a pre-cancerous cervix in the early 1990s (more on "HEALING WISE" page).
That highly transformative experience had left me "saturated" with a profound gratitude and renewed passion for Life and botanicals: I felt great motivation to create a venue where I could share the Majesty and Healing nature of plants in the way that I had been given to know them intimately.
In retrospect, the Gaia Spirit I wrote about in "Healing Wise",- and remember that my "merging" with Gaia and the overwhelming Love and Healing she manifested as, had become my very "raison d'Être"-, clearly needed a place "in the world" where it could express itself and share its Wisdom and Healing with people as it had done with me.
The Garden of Eden came into being in August 1997 with the generous designing and building wizardry of local artist Jeff Wessner who built the "invironment"and inner sanctum of the store. The custom, beautiful, sturdy and invitingly curved lines of the store's fixtures are all due to him.
Since then, the "womb-like" space has received several thousand visitors , many of whom have become lifelong friends and clients, from around the globe : indeed, our town is nestled within the Point Reyes National Seashore and attracts much interest from the 4 Directions and from all Nations.

The store is entering the second phase of its
remodel this weekend, March/14, 2010.
While we are sad to lose the gentle curves we have lived with and so loved these past 12 and 1!2 years, we feel blessed in gaining great spaciousness in the main room and much needed work space for medecine making in the workshop space.
Many much needed teachings and classes will be offered with
regularity at Garden of Eden starting in April 2010.

From the 4 Directions and from all Nations does the complete spectrum of Humanity come through the store : it does so in small numbers, throughout the months and the years .
Blessed and enriched are we all with the diverse perspectives embodied and knowledge shared and collected.
One is reminded of a wheel with the store as the hub and the many friends who visit as the spokes .The shared knowledge and ensuing growth and Wisdom are the band that encircles all the spokes and completes the wheel, allowing it to roll, disseminating Wisdom , Knowledge and Community Spirit.

It is noteworthy that many people tell us of their family lineage and the "herbal wise ones" to be found there. Many a man will remenber his beloved grandmother taking him and his siblings into the "vacant lots" of America's early 1950's or searching the woods for familiar plants to heal them with.
Clearly, two and three generations ago , many people in the Western world carried the herbal knowledge that is all of humanity's Divine inheritance : they practiced and passed on the wise use of plants that they themselves had received from their elders. Essential to remember, with awe, is the unbroken lineage of such knowledge and wisdom carried by all the Native Peoples of the Earth.
Many a time a one person shows up at the store, their very first time, as if on a "mission", having been "guided there", (their words). Many such friends carry a tremendous emotional load: many have pressing financial problems and/or family and relationship issues, some have cancer, some an undetermined ailment, others yet are burdened with debilitating illness acquired through multi-layered use of highly toxic pharmaceutical drugs prescribed by their physician, to name but a few. All need a place where they feel safe and can be heard. An herb store is a humble sanctuary.
Because of my personal healing experience and the deep process that brought me to health and wholeness, the store makes time and space for such clients to find therein the solace and refuge they seek and need. Held by the Healing Essence of the plants , the Creator Spirit and my holding Sacred Space with them, people find that their burden can be dropped, allowing their state to gently open up : in most cases, the sense of safety and the presence of a welcoming and non-judgemental healing practitioner allows people to share their particular predicament. Given the time and undivided guidance and attention they need, people easily enter into their own subtle field and access and shed layer after layer of "baggage" which tends to manifest in confusion, emotional wretchedness , unhappiness and can ultimately lead to dis-ease and illness. Many others will make a date for a consultation or a healing session with me, to have the opportunity for a more in-depth inquiry into their unique needs and solutions.Through a holistic and compassionate investigation, the layers where dis-ease is "rooted" reveal themselves : from that place of clarity and knowing, healthy choices can be made and adhered to.
