Wanting to treat you to the unusual beauty of the " lace- like" effect left upon the glass bottle by some of the Turmeric within, we brought this brewing tincture briefly out-of-doors for a quick shoot!

TINCTURE: a liquid herbal extract in alcohol and water. Can also be prepared with vinegar, or glycerine and water, AKA the "menstruum". These various liquids extract the medicinal properties/constituents, AKA "The medecine", from the plants through a slow process of maceration.
Pure vegetable glycerine is sometimes added to an alcohol extract as it is known to extract different, vital and complimentary plant constituents to those obtained through alcohol extraction.
Glycerine adds a certain sweetness to the tincture. It is an excellent preservative and extractor though alcohol is considered the most powerful of the two.
GLYCERITES , plant- based glycerine extracts, are best suited for children and those among us who choose to stay away from alcohol altogether.
It is our recommendation that both our alcohol and glycerine tinctures always be diluted, preferably with warm water.
For best results, follow the directions of your health practioner.

Tinctures and Glycerites are "put up" with the New Moon and decanted at Full Moon. Some, brewed for up to 9 months or longer, become ELIXIRS, both in taste and action.
We intentionally use BIODYNAMIC WHITE GRAPE ALCOHOL (BDWGA)

The inherent risk pure grain alcohol presents our gluten-sensitive clients is non-existent here and the quality of the biodynamic white grape alcohol is clearly superior to any other alcohol we have ever tinctured with. We actually find ourselves using less alcohol than recommended.
The proof varies between 85 and 95%. Out of respect for the plants and their lifecycle, we "slow-tincture" them : i.e we give our menstruums the chance to slowly extract the medicinal constituents of the plants and their essence by not rushing the process of extraction, or "burning" the plants by extracting them into straight/undiluted alcohol.
Looking at ECHINACEA, a mature root is between 2 and 4 years of age when ready for medecine-making. Roots are as hard as wood when we ready them for tincturing. We give our Echinacea root 3 to 6 months to release its medecine into our menstruums.
Several of our preparations are WHOLE PLANT extracts
i.e, they include the root, leaf, stem , flower and seed- head of the plants. Such is the case for Echinacea and Dandelion extracts.
These extracts are more complex and substantial than extracts of the various, isolated parts of any one plant. We go to extra length to raise and/or procure root, leaf, flower and seed head, organic at minimum , in various seasons, to put all "under one roof".
